Project Description

Another recent addition to the collection, this painting depicts some of the construction that has occurred in what is now called Barangaroo. The 22 hectare precinct is on the site of the old shipping and container terminals.

As most commercial shipping has now moved further south to Botany Bay, the harbourside is now being given back to the people. On the bottom left of the painting is the massive 5.7 hectare Barangaroo Reserve, which has been planted with over 75,000 trees.

The tall shapely building rising to the right of the reserve is a depiction of how the new casino and hotel is expected to look.

The predominant colour of the painting is reminiscent of the sandstone on which Sydney is built, and which is used in many of its buildings both old and new.
